Present situation and development direction of coalbed methane (gas) exploitation and utilization in Shanxi Province

In order to promote the sustainable and healthy development of CBM (gas) industrialization in Shanxi Province, this paper summarizes the gas geological characteristics, development and utilization status, problems of gas industry development, and puts forward countermeasures and suggestions from the aspects of policy, technology and industry. The paper points out that the development direction of CBM (gas) is to improve the infrastructure construction of gas storage and peak regulation, promote the R&D and transformation of high value-added products, improve the utilization rate of underground coal mine gas, and help achieve the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutral. It is concluded that the CBM (gas) industry needs to enhance the level of development and utilization to ensure the commercial operation space; under the trend of carbon reduction, CBM extraction enterprises should actively participate in international carbon emission trading; make scientific utilization of CBM(gas), reduce direct emissions, and promote the transformation of high added value through scientific and technological innovation; adhere to the advanced concept of "coal and gas co-mining, treatment and utilization of equal importance".
